En este taller exploraremos métodos como rollitos, placas, pellizcos y moldeo, combinando conocimientos técnicos con la expresión personal y el contacto directo con la arcilla.** **Durante el proceso se realizarán piezas utilitarias y simbólicas, tales como tazones, cuencos y platos, incorporando motivos precolombinos y trabajando acabados en engobe, poniendo especial atención en la forma, la superficie y el lenguaje visual de las culturas ancestrales.** **Trabajaremos con arcilla de baja temperatura, conociendo los materiales y componentes fundamentales de la cerámica, así como técnicas de acabado tradicionales como el pulido y los engobes. In this workshop, we will explore methods such as **coil building, slab construction, pinch techniques, and hand molding**, combining technical knowledge with personal expression and direct contact with clay. Throughout the process, participants will create **functional and symbolic pieces**—such as bowls, vessels, and plates—incorporating pre-Columbian motifs and working with **slip finishes**, with special attention to form, surface, and the visual language of ancestral cultures. We will work with **low-fire clay**, learning about the fundamental materials and components of ceramics, as well as traditional finishing techniques such as **burnishing and slips**. The process invites an understanding of each piece from its form to its surface, valuing the time of making, the relationship with the material, and artisanal work. Come solo to reflect on your heart stories, come as a couple to give depth to your relationship (and let go of everything that burdens you), or join me in recovering from a recent heartbreak. Kintsugi — the practice of mending broken pottery with gold — teaches us that **scars can be beautiful and a carefully restored piece is much more valuable and admired than a whole one**. That stories that have reshaped us can be more meaningful than perfection. That we can hold and honor our past, not erase it. Our leaders will teach you parts to sing for spontaneously-composed choral pieces. We play a variety of listening/music/singing games, and create safe opportunities for participants to improvise as little or as much as they might like. Good for all skill levels, shower-singers to seasoned pros, no sheet-music-reading required. \*\*\* We usually meet on the second Sunday of the month, and will continue to meet in-person as long as it makes sense. We encourage and provide masks. We will also plan on continuing our Zoom circles from time to time. So please check the day before/day of the meetup each month to confirm date & details.
