London: An Oxleas Wood Winter Ramble
Join Hannah, Rob and London Wildish Club for our first walk of 2026. [If you wish to attend, you can find out more about Wildish Club here - with options to join for free or to become a supporter.](https://www.wildishclub.co.uk/join-the-club) We’ll start at Falconwood Station and thread our way through some of South East London’s lesser-known green spaces and woodland paths, taking in Oxleas Wood and Severndroog Castle along the way — a surreal Gothic hilltop tower that feels wonderfully out of place and very fitting for a winter wander. We’ll finish near Maryon Wilson Park, with the chance to say hello to the goats and pigs at the animal enclosure and hopefully even spot some of the resident deer, before ending at Charlton Station. There will be an optional pub stop afterwards for anyone who fancies warming up together. This is a flatter, steady-paced walk of around 9.6 km — more of a gentle winter ramble than a big hike. Expect some mud, crisp air, friendly people, and pauses for seasonal noticing along the way. We’re starting a little earlier than usual to make the most of the daylight. Any questions, just give us a shout. Canal Walk - Angel to Victoria Park Cafe / Market
Canal Walk - Angel to Victoria Park Cafe / Market
We will enjoy a leisurely walk (approx 45 mins - 1 hour) along Regent's Canal from Angel station and ending at the fabulous Victoria Park Market. This event usually runs on the 4th Sunday of each month, unless there is bad weather or exceptional circumstances. We are a welcoming group, so feel free to mix around and say hello other people. There is a wondering food market in Victoria Park, and most of us will get something to eat together. We usually sit on the grass or public benches (if available) near the Bonner Gate entrance, behind the Dogs of Alcibiades statue. This is at the intersection of foodstalls running north/south and east/west. If it is raining or the market is closed, we can either go to the Pavillion cafe, or The Crown pub on Grove Road instead. Please note a few points: 1\. There is currently no charge for this group\. I will need to review this again later in 2026\. 2\. WE WILL WAIT ONLY ABOUT 10 MINUTES AFTER THE START TIME\. If you are running late\, please catch us up along the canal\. Please note\, I will not be checking for meetup or whatsapp messages after the walk starts\. 3\. The nearest tube station to Victoria Park is Bethnal Green station \(central line\)\. Please check Google Maps or similar\. 4\. You are responsible for yourselves on the walk\, so please bring appropriate footwear etc\. Please be mindful of those around you\, especially where the canal gets narrow in places\. Whatsapp group here: https://chat.whatsapp.com/IJd6MJfVDPC6jUw6iW77ZY Previously, there was a separate walk on the 3rd Sunday of the month, which started at Limehouse Basin, and then ran along the same canal to Victoria Park. Please note, the walks starting from Limehouse on the 3rd Sunday of the month are now cancelled for the foreseeable future.

Energizing Walk for Busy People!
Energizing Walk for Busy People!
Join our weekly walking meetup to have fun, maintain a healthy lifestyle, meet new people, and enjoy the weather! We meet Saturdays at 10am, halfway between the Reston *Container Store* and *Not Your Average Joes* (by the metal benches), leaving no later than 10:05. Every week, rain or shine, we start by walking along the Green Trail to reach Lake Anne Community Center. Once there, we pause for water/bio (often staying a few minutes extra from April-November, due to the local Farmer's Market), and then we circle Lake Anne and head back to our starting point. It's roughly 3-4 miles and takes about an hour and a half. Afterwards, some members will often head to *Not Your Average Joes* or another local restaurant for a quick drink/meal before tackling the day. This event is open to all ages and fitness levels. Dogs are welcome, and we recommend dressing for the weather (umbrella, water, snow shoes, hat, etc.) since we'll walk rain or shine. Also, feel free to bring a friend! By signing up, you accept and assume all risks and responsibilities with this activity, and nobody will be held liable.

Garrett Park Group Walk
Garrett Park Group Walk
Please join the Sugarloafers for a group walk through the village of Garrett Park. The village of Garrett Park began as a railroad suburb, a place where people could live in the country but work and attend cultural events in DC. Many Victorian era "cottages" still exist. In 1977 Garrett Park declared itself an arboretum to protect and manage its collection of trees and to allow for planting a greater variety of species and maintain its sylvan character. There are 2 trails: a 5k and a 10k * The 5 k heads directly tothe town of Garrett Park, passes late Victorian era homes, the Town Hall, and the Penn Building. * The 10 k starts with the 5 k then adds Randolph Hill Neighborhood which features beautifully maintained 1950's brick homes, then finishes on the Rock Creek multi-use trail. This is a sanctioned American Volkssports Association, American's Walking Club event. Please arrive early to stamp your books. The Sugarloafers charge $4 participation fee for everyone over 12 years old. Please bring cash or Sugarloafer walk coupons. Please RSVP and we will message in the event of cancelation due to weather.
Amphibian and Reptile Monitoring 2026 Season Kickoff
Amphibian and Reptile Monitoring 2026 Season Kickoff
Our local amphibians and reptiles are both susceptible to habitat destruction and pollutants and can often be victims of being misunderstood. Join Loudoun Wildlife Conservancy for an introductory look at our local amphibians and reptiles, what our citizens can do to help protect their habitats, and what related programs are available through Loudoun Wildlife to help monitor populations and increase community awareness of these often overlooked and fragile species. This presentation takes place at Rust Library and is co-sponsored by the Loudoun County Public Library and Loudoun Wildlife Conservancy.
