New Light trail maintenance work day

As everyone is well aware, we have received a fair amount of rain this season and the summer time has just begun. I would like to spend some time clearing the new growth that has emerged on the first Loop and lake downfall sections of the new light trail system. We will be cutting back new growth as well as removing some sections of down trees. If you have a few hours to donate to a worthy cause please plan to meet in the lower parking section this Sunday at 8:45. If you have small loppers or any tools that can assist in clearing small growth please bring them along. I will bring plenty of cold water

Ya, that last section before you cross the fire road to Easy Street was a freakin tunnel of black berry and other nasty stuff. Would love to see that gone. Bush Hog work there for certain. About 5 feet of clearing on each side would be about right.

Pierce and went out and rode it all afterwards. It is definitely time for a knapp now. All that really kicked my butt.

Great turn out. Our group got First Loop and Easy Street cleaned up and the second group trekked out to LDF.

I haven't been up there in a few years. I'm trusting the parking is in the same old place.

Looks like all of the work will be done using loppers and hand trimmers. The equipment I tried to rent was unavailable but we would be able to get a good bit done by hand. I look forward to seeing everybody tomorrow morning and thanks for the help.

Not sure what is meant by the "lower parking section". Is there another description?

Generally people park and access the trails in two sections. The upper trail head near the kiosk and all the way down by the cable gate. Looks like Mike is telling everyone to meet down lower in the road by the cable gate.

I'm on the schedule at the shop that day, but I don't like to complain about a trail's condition and not be part of the solution. I'll see if I can get the day off and bring out the chainsaws.
