Join RLAG on this no drop, women's only mountain bike ride and weekend of spectacular singletrack located at Kerr Scott Lake and Dam in Wilkesboro, NC. The lake is surrounded by over 40 miles of amazing singletrack. This trail system was named an IMBA Epic in 2011.
*If you want to make it a day trip, we can arrange to meet you at the appropriate trailhead.
We have reserved 2 side by side campsites at Warrior Creek Campground both with electric and water hookup. The two sites allow for a total of 12 women and unlimited tents. Excellent bathrooms and showers are a short walk from campsites. Warrior Creek trailhead is about 50 feet from the campsites.
Tentative plan for both days:
Saturday: meet at Dark Mountain trailhead at 11am and ride the DM 6 mile loop including sweet new berms and tabletops. Break for lunch (bring your own) and then ride OverMountain Victory Trail (OVT), an out and back that skirts the south side of the lake so you can ride as long as you want and turn around. OVT has 3 optional loops crammed with one super fun berm after another. Then head to the campsites to set up camp. Dinner can be at the campsites or at a restaurant in town depending on what the group wants to do. We’ll plan to do a campfire with Dutch oven popcorn or dessert if we stay at camp for dinner
Sunday: breakfast and break camp and then ride Warrior Creek from the campsites. WC is a 12 mile loop of mostly smooth swooping berms with some short climbs and two rock gardens. Head home about 1pm.
Optional trails in the event any of the above are closed are Rocky Knob (8-9 mile loop located 45 min from Kerr Scott near Boone) and Cub Creek (7-8 miles located in town). Check out www.ridewnctrails.com or https://www.mtbproject.com/trail/770094/kerr-scott-imba-epic for trail descriptions and maps.
Cost: $10 per person to camp. If the group decides to camp cook, we can decide on menu and all contribute with food.
These rides are best for those who have been mountain biking at least a year. Questions? Send me a message.
