Umstead Coalition will present a slide presentation at the Sierra Club event.

Below is text from their event:

On March 1, 2019, the RDU Airport Authority (RDUAA) held a meeting just two days after their announcement that they would vote for the lease of Odd Fellows Tract to Wake Stone to be made into a quarry, without requesting any input from the public, despite the land being a public property that has been used for recreational purposes for many years by bikers, hikers, as well as Boy Scouts.

But the fight is not over. We have invited Jean Spooner, chair of Umstead Coalition, to give a talk on the recent events that led to the RDUAA's leasing of the land, discuss the legal and ethical reasons why giving the Odd Fellows Tract to Wake Stone is unjust, and ways the general public can act against Wake Stone's attempt to take away 105 acres of forested areas from its people.

The speaker's event will take place on:

April 16,[masked]:30 - 8:30 PM
@ Jaycee Community Center

Doors will open at 6:30 PM, while the program will start officially at 7:00 PM. Light refreshment will be provided.

Hope that everyone can be there to show their support for the Odd Fellows Tract and the Umstead State Park!
