Great to see all the new faces (or the ones I haven't seen in a while). I look forward to seeing you on future rides!

Another beautiful day at Warrior Creek/OVT. We even rode freshly laid trail while the guys were still working on it. Post ride food & drink at Foothills...or should I say pre-race day meal? Hope I didn't overdo it. :-)

I'm leaving from Apex at 7 AM and headed west on US64. I have room for a passenger or two, but there's a catch. My son is playing in a soccer tournament in Mooresville at 6:30PM Saturday evening and I'm stopping there on the drive home. Its a U18 travel team game, so it will be good game (assuming you like soccer) This adds an extra hour to the drive plus an hour or so of game time. I'll cover the gas, but you won't get home until after 10PM. You'll also miss the post ride pit stop at Foothills brewery. If interested, let me know.

And hope to see you on the next trip, Sam. I'll try to make it later in the day, just for you! ;-)

I would have come, even thaaaat early - but a friend needed a dog sitter ... next time.

  • Debbie

Hey Brian...are you on the road? Taking off in less than 10 minutes. Let me know if I should look for you!!

    November 17, 2012

  • Debbie

Vanessa & I are meeting at 7:30 at Tanger Outlets at Mebane to carpool (just us). If you need a meeting place that captures people coming from Raleigh and Durham, this is a great spot! Feel free to meet up with us if you want a convoy!

Less than a week away! We will meet at the Warrior Creek trail head & ride that first, then hop in our cars and park at the visitor center and ride Dark Mtn next. Last is OVT and it is an out & back, so it's an easy way to end...you can choose to do a little or a lot, just make sure you coordinate with your carpool to make sure you're all on the same page!!
Also, please remember to bring some food to snack on!! For those interested, we can stop at Foothills Brewery in Winston Salem on the way home (except maybe I should check with my carpool buddy before I say that :-).

    November 11, 2012

    • Vanessa R.

Carpool buddy is down for the brewery stop--as long as they have food too : )

      November 11, 2012

    • Matt H.

Food to snack on? Oh, yea...I remember. Thanks for the pbj and fig sandwich!!

      November 13, 2012

  • James L.

    I'm so confused.

    October 14, 2012

    • Debbie

I heard. Sorry Matt! I don't think I'd let you go anyway...not after the last crash at Dark Mtn. :-)

      November 13, 2012

    • Matt H.

Dark Mtn was just a flesh wound, I hurt myself worse while still on my bike last weekend. Well actually I was half on half off. My hand came off the bar on the right side while traveling down hill and my leg swung forward causing my ankle bone to hit the bottom of my shock housing...ouchy! Didn't realize I had a hole in my leg till I stopped later and looked down at my bloody sock. Pulled it back to see my bloody ankle bone thru a small hole in my leg. No pain no gain...just kept on riding and patched it up when I got home.

    This sounds really tempting.

I would be interested in sharing a ride, if i decided I can make it (10 am is awfully early ;). Driving my car would be more thrilling than the actual bike ride I think, so I would be grateful for a ride, I am in downtown Durham but could meet anywhere around the Triangle that is on the way to Dark mnt.

    November 11, 2012

    • Debbie

Awesome, Sam!! Hope you can get up early! You'll enjoy these trails...but they're not like the Utah stuff. :) Hopefully you and Doug both find a carpool!

I'll take that as a typo... Hope. Thought you were calling me a name at first. :-) I'm glad girl. Rest up!! It's going to be a blast!!

      November 11, 2012

    • Vanessa R.

      LOL

      November 11, 2012

  • Debbie

Excellent, Sonia!! I hope this means you & Dave are feeling better...or will be by the w/e!

    November 11, 2012

  • Debbie

Ok guys...time to update your RSVPs!! Vanessa and I still plan on going and we will be carpooling together for some much needed gab time. :-)

    November 10, 2012

  • Debbie

I am willing and able to change this to Saturday, Nov 24th, (Thanksgiving weekend). This change is possible, if:
    1. Vanessa can do that day....I owe her a day at Dark Mtn. :-)
    2. If a predominant # of those already signed up can do that day....or decide they don't/can't do the 17th.
Just offering this as an option, due to the 6 hr BC race on the 18th.

    October 30, 2012

  • Ed

i might just ride KSR saturday, and 6BC sunday. and call in sick monday.

    October 14, 2012

    • Debbie

Ha!! You're crazy! I actually created a second ride on Oct 28th, just for you, Ed! You probably shouldn't do this one before a 6 hour race, unless you are training for the 24 hr Burn.

      October 15, 2012

    • Ed

that's awesome, but i have to work that Sunday, and I already took off the weekend for 6BC. :-\ Is there anywhere to camp in that area that time of year?

      October 15, 2012

  • Debbie

Ok. Sticking with November 17th. Also added an October 28th ride which can easily (as of now) change to October 21rst upon request.

    October 8, 2012

    • Debbie

      Ok...never mind for the 21rst!!

      October 8, 2012

  • Debbie

:-) It's possible, but if something happened I would never forgive myself. Besides, I scheduled a Halloween ride!!
Do you have a preference on earlier dates? I'm looking at Oct 21 or 28th. Or Nov 4th. They are all Sundays.

    October 6, 2012

  • Ed

    http://trianglemtb.com/yabbse/index.php?topic=29839.0

i BET if we all get rifles and orange clothing, we could still ride WC the original day...

    October 6, 2012

  • Debbie

Ugh. I was wondering when 6BC was...
I may have to re-think this date as I am considering that race.
Most likely will post a Sunday ride in October as well to respond to a few requests for an earlier date.

    October 6, 2012

  • Ed

wait, did this get moved? now it's the same weekend as 6BC! :-(

    October 6, 2012

  • Debbie

@Ben...you should post a ride for Greensboro! Or if you do a different date (other than the 27th) and want me to post it, I will.

    October 5, 2012

  • Debbie

Haha...me too, Vanessa. I picked a Saturday b/c I thought I'd get more response...but since you are one of the reasons I was picking a Saturday, I'm all for an earlier date (on a Sunday)!!

    October 5, 2012

  • Vanessa R.

I could go either of those earlier dates. Just saying.

    October 5, 2012

  • Debbie

Date change to Saturday, Nov 17th...unless someone really wants to push for an earlier Sunday (nov 4th or 11th).

    October 5, 2012

  • Ben

I prefer warrior creek as well and I do not feel that rocky knob is WTD in my opinion for a day trip, not enough trail. I might just look to do a Greensboro tour, I have not ridden any trials in this area to date.

    October 4, 2012

  • Debbie

ps. Warrior Creek is my fav trail on the East Coast (so far)...so my preference is to wait until it's open.

    October 3, 2012

  • Debbie

I am excited about all the response so far (& I know another 4 that are in)...but unfortunately, I did not do my homework. Warrior Creek is closed for hunting that weekend. :-( We have a few options...
    1. Ride Dark Mtn and OVT
    2. Ride the above and drive the extra distance to ride Rocky Knob.
    3. Find another date....which may have to be November at this point, so we'll miss the colorful leaves.
    Any suggestions/comments are welcome.
