Mission Reach Hike

  • Mar 16, 2014 · 8:00 AM
  • This location is shown only to members

The Missions Trail from Mission Park Pavillions to Mission Espada is approximately 4 miles one way - we will be hiking the east side of the river. Depending on how fast we go and how long we stop to explore/snack, allow around 3-4 hours.

Dress appropriately for hiking (hat, shoes, etc.), bring water and a light snack. We can explore around the dam and stop to have our snack.

Gladys' husband will provide a shuttle back to the cars at the Pavillions. Whoever doesn't fit into the first shuttle back will be picked up and brought back in a second shuttle group. A group of hikers may decide to turn it into an 8 mile out-and-back hike instead of taking the shuttle ride back.

The hike is contingent on the weather - plan to hike unless it is raining.  We may re-schedule if the chance of rain is high.

We will meet at 8:00 am at the Mission Park Pavillions, 6030 Padre Drive.

Directions: From downtown - 37 South to West Southcross/New Braunfels exit. Make a right onto Southcross - go to second light which will be S. Presa - make a left onto S. Presa - stay on far right lane - to VFW Blvd (About a block or two), make a right onto VFW Blvd. You will go over bridge, take first right after bridge into parking lot. Note: Entrance on Roosevelt Street is closed due to construction Pavillions (on the left side of VFW Blvd) will be closed at that time, but the parking lot on the right is open.

Only if the weather is being favorable. It may be canceled/rescheduled if it's raining.
