Attendance limited to the first 10 members who RSVP “yes.” The Meetup organizer as the Host will typically open the discussions by introducing the short-story author’s skillful use of craft elements – reading the story as a writer. The meetup members comment on the story from the book "The Best American Short Stories, 2018" at each meeting in the following order: 1. “Control Negro” by Jocelyn Nicole Johnson. (16 Dec.) 4. “Boys Go to Jupiter” by Danielle Evan., ( 20 Jan.) 5. “Los Angeles” by Emma Cline. ( 17 Feb.) 6. “Unearth” by Alicia Elliot. (17 Mar.) 7. “Come on, Silver” by Ann Glaviono, (21 Apr.) 8. “A Big True” by Dina Nayeri.( 19 May) 9. “Good with Boys” by Kristen Iskandrian.(16 June) The Best American Short Stories series has been published each year since 1915. In 2015, 100 Years of the Best American Short Stories was published. It comprises 40 short stories, selected by Lorrie Moore and Heidi Pitlor.
