This group is principally for members and supporters of Humanist Society of Scotland in Fife and the surrounding area. Non members who are interested and share our Humanist values are also very welcome.
We have social events and trips throughout the year - these are relaxed opportunities to discuss and simply socialise with other freethinking people.

Celebrate World Humanist Day at Willie Clark Visitor Centre
Lochore Meadows Visitor Centre, Lochore Meadows Country Park, nr Lochgelly, KY5 8BA, GBFife Humanists are hosting a friendly and sociable gathering to celebrate World Humanist Day on the 21st of June 2026 at Lochore Meadows Country Park Crossbill, Fife, KY5 8BA.
We hope you can join us! Make new friends while enjoying some relaxing time in congenial company. It is also an ideal occasion for anyone interested in finding out more about Humanism and to learn more about the work and campaigns of the charity Humanist Society Society in a beautiful and informal environment.
WHERE? We will meet in the cafe / foyer of the Willie Clark Visitor Centre in Lochore Meadows at 1.30pm for 2pm for coffee and cake or whatever you’d like to purchase for yourself. https://www.lochoremeadows.org
Look out for people wearing brightly coloured Humanist Society Scotland T-shirts with the happy human logo.
GETTING THERE: There is car parking at the visitor centre and at the outdoor centre. The car park can be busy at peak times.
The nearest train station is Lochgelly and Lochore Meadows is a walk of approximately 30 minutes from the station. A bus service 20 and 20a runs from the station and stops at the visitor centre https://moffat-williamson.co.uk/timetable/service-20 Alternatively the No 19 Stagecoach service runs every 20 minutes on Sundays and stops at the entrance to the park with a walk to the visitor centre.
NB There are two entrances to the park. The main entrance is from Crosshill but some sat navs will direct you to the north entrance near Kelty. There is some car parking there but it is a longish walk to the visitor centre.
ACCESSIBILITY: The visitor centre is fully accessible and has disabled toilets and a changing places toilet. Many of the paths are suitable for wheelchairs and there are maps which show levels of difficulty.
CHARGES: Access to the park is free as is the car parking. There is no charge for this event. No refreshments will be provided but there is a cafe onsite in the visitor centre and usually an ice cream van. There are also picnic tables.
FURTHER INFORMATION: If you are interested in exploring the park and its facilities there are a number of outdoor activities that might interest you if you’d like to organise them independently and make a day of it, including sailing and assisted sailing, cycling (including adapted bikes) and other water sports (Info.OutdoorEd@fife.gov.uk). Wild swimming is also very popular at Lochore but there are restrictions so please check the website or the outdoor centre for details, and doing so would be at your own risk.
If a round of golf appeals, Lochore Meadows has a fairly long and testing 9 hole golf course. If there is interest, we can book a Tee Time for before the event (suggest around 11-30). The course is popular and likely to be busy.
You can also stroll or hike the extensive attractive woodland and loch side walks with paths to suit all abilities. For the more adventurous there is a walk across to Loch Leven via the Sleeping Giant.
The history of this beautiful location is fascinating and can be explored in the Wille Clarke visitor centre. The 1200 acre park is formed from reclaimed land which once was the site of seven coal mines. A few historic features of its mining past have been preserved and are located close to the centre. An additional structure of historical interest is the remains of a 14th century castle, Lochore Castle also known as Inchgall Castle which is on a mound that was once an island (Isle of Strangers) and is sited close to the main entrance to the park and a short walk from the visitor centre.
For younger visitors the site has a children’s play area and a woodland fairy trail.
