Details
Camp Muir Hike – Saturday, August 2 | 7:00 AM @ Paradise Trailhead
This is a challenging hike for experienced hikers—please know your capabilities before joining. We’ll meet at the Paradise Trailhead at Mount Rainier National Park at 7:00 AM sharp.
Trail Info:
Camp Muir via Skyline Trail – WTA
- Distance: 8.0 miles roundtrip
- Elevation Gain: 4,640 feet
- Highest Point: 10,080 feet
Important Note: The highest point of this hike is at 10,080 feet, so please consider your ability to hike at high elevation. Altitude can impact breathing, energy, and overall effort—this is not a casual day hike.
Since we are starting before the timed entry requirement (which begins at 7:00 AM), we do not need a timed entry reservation—just show your America the Beautiful Pass or pay the national park entrance fee at the gate.
This iconic trail takes us above the tree line to Camp Muir, with incredible views, glacial travel, and a high-altitude experience. Conditions can be unpredictable—be prepared with proper gear, layers, food, water, and sun protection.
Carpooling:
If you need a ride or can offer one, please post in the comments with your location and available seats, and connect directly with each other to coordinate.
Note: Snowfield crossings and steep climbs are involved. This is not a beginner-friendly hike. Microspikes and trekking poles are highly recommended depending on trail conditions.
Let’s summit together—but safely. See you bright and early!
