PAYMENT NEEDED WITH "YES" RSVP. Please understand when we plan these trips we need to pay a deposit early and then pay The Learning Center in full so MATS needs your payment as soon as possible.
We're going to post this on another meetup site in a few days but Midwest Adventure Travelers get first notice to fill available spots.
We are planning a short weekend at the Indiana Sand Dunes area about an hour from Chicago. We're staying at the Indiana Dunes Enviromental Learning Center from Friday eve. til Sunday morning.
We have 5 cabins and use of a large dining building. A few guides/naturalists will be provided for the day and night hikes. Possible pizza at the dining hall on Friday evening and a restaurant for Saturday after the hike.
Saturday and Sunday breakfast provided at the dining hall.
The short travel distance and low cost should make this trip doable for those looking for an easy getaway.
A few of us were at this place in November of 2007 and know what a wonderful place it is.
The learning center has modern cabins and dining hall to make our short stay comfortable.
The cabins have 4 bunks that sleep 8 but we're only putting 4 per cabin.
We can start arriving after 5 on Fri eve. and get settled in. Will discuss Fri. night pizza option with participants. Breakfast provided by Learning Center Sat. morn. Then gather for a hike around the area. We'll agree on lunch arrangements, maybe a restaurant nearby, either Wagners BBQ, Lucretia or ? Chill afterwards and whoever is up to it we'll have a night hike led by a naturalist. To finish the day there will be a bon-fire a short few minutes hike from the cabins.
Sunday will start with a breakfast provided by the Learning center, then another hike after we pack and leave the cabins. We might visit the historic farm "Bailly's homestead".
There will be time in between activities to relax and enjoy the wilderness acreage around this place.
The Learning Center needs a commitment and money so get on board and pay immediately.
We need a mininum of 15 and Mats needs to pay the Learning center ASAP.
More details to follow.
