The Ottawa Travel Group August Meetup

Tonight's Meetup will start at 7:10pm sharp. Please try to be there on time.Thank you.

We will start the Meetup with our usual Trivia session.

Tonight's Presentation: Japan
Presented by member:  Richard Roberts

Japan offers many learning experiences, including ancient architecture, superfast trains, new foods and public hot baths. For western travelers, every day brings insights into a different culture and challenges to our traditional ways of thinking. This presentation by a couple, who spent 10 days in central Japan, will talk about visits to Tokyo, Kyoto, Osaka, Kobe, Nara and several other locations which are largely unknown outside Japan. You will see temples, palaces, castles, gardens, hot springs, modern shopping , the countryside, geishas, fashions and even a pirate ship. As well, you will get a slice of day-to-day life in Japan and a peek at the ancient Japan of shoguns, samurai and monks.

See you there

I will be at the meeting place at 6:30 pm for those who wish to come early. Presentations will not begin before 7:10 pm.

Thanks to all who generously answered back to me! My attention has now been caught by India for November ... I'm keeping Vietnam and Brazil on my top 5 list for my next destinations so you might ear back from me. Looking forward to meet you at a Travelers Meet Up Meeting soon. Have a great day everyone and thanks again.

Informative and well prepared. Sounds like Irene and Richard had a great tour of Japan.

Sorry to send this message to everyone. This message is not related to Japan. I am going to Jerusalem, Israel in September. Anyone would have any suggestions or recommendations to share about it? If yes, could you please send me your suggestions through a private message. Thank you.

This seems a popular group. Perhaps another Camino session would be appropriate. Also please organize something for those members who want to go to warmer climes in the winter months. A venue for more attendees does seem to be a consideration.

With so many travel enthusiasts every month, any thought, Kathy, on finding a bigger venue that can accommodate more attendees? If you happen to miss the first online sign-up date for any given meeting - even if only by a few hours - you're sorely out of luck of being able to "get in" - literally and figuratively! Other comment is, shouldn't registered Meet-up attendees take precedent of members' inviting non-Meet-up members?

Sandy... just come even if you are on the waiting list. Example: last month for the Camino... had all on the list and wait list shown up... there would have been 95 or so people there... I think we hit 39.. the most ever!
