Arcadia Lodge will be hosting a vegan dinner on Thanksgiving, which we call "Thankgoodness!", because no one here needs to explain their weird food choices to anyone; also, we will be celebrating Goodness on that day and not some of the negative historical connotations of Thanksgiving (rather Thanks-taking...).
Here is the menu for our Thankgoodness dinner party! We will start with a pear and parsnip bisque, followed by a salad resplendent with autumn colors and flavors including kale, pomegranate, pecans, carrots, squash and more! The main course will feature maple roasted acorn squash stuffed with apple walnut corn bread dressing. There will be mashed heirloom potatoes, with skins (nutrients intact), and a vegan green bean casserole. We will also have vegan "turkey" slices with gravy, fresh cranberry sauce and whole grain rolls. Dessert will be sweet potato pie in a pecan oatmeal crust topped with a dollop of coconut whip cream. You will have your choice of coffee and teas along with a glass of wine. Feel free to bring to also BYOB.
The soup , salad and squash dish will be gluten free, as will the mashed potatoes. The green bean casserole will not be, but I will offer a side of steamed green beans as a substitute. The turkey slices will not be gluten free, nor will the rolls. The pie will be gluten free. Everything will be soy free except for the "turkey" and the pie. Most of the ingredients will be organic and locally sourced.
I hope that this sounds enticing and delicious! We will be accepting reservations through the evening of the 26th. Seating will be limited to twenty folks. If you RSVP, we really want you to show up. The food is expensive and we don't want to buy too much, or spend more time on cooking everything than is really required! Thank you for supporting this endeavor!
We are requesting a twenty dollar donation per adult for this meal. Kids under 5 may eat for free; for those between five and twelve, please donate ten dollars. We are always open to work for food exchanges.
