Game night and drinks/eats at Straw Valley Cafe/Pomegranate Kitchen - Durham

Straw Valley Cafe is a coffeeshop/wine bar in the SW/W Durham area (in front of new Hope Commons), and it's fantastic -- lots of space, comfortable seating, and great staff. Straw Valley offers fair trade coffee, chai, chocolates, baked goods (including gluten-free and vegan goodies), sodas, smoothies, wine and beer.

If you want dinner, you can grab some takeout from Pomegranate Kitchen next door (note: they close at 6:30) and it's fine to bring it over to Straw Valley. The menu features fresh, local vegetarian organic fare with an international twist.

Feel free to bring any board games or card games you'd like to play. I'll bring Sequence, Scrabble and cards. We'll start at 6 pm but feel free to arrive later if you like. The cafe closes at 9 pm.

This is a great venue! I had a fun time and enjoyed meeting some new folks as well as seeing some of our regulars. Thanks to all who attended.

Park and walk past the fence and through the courtyard to the cafe. Ask the staff to direct you to the Sanderson House section of the cafe, where our group will gather.

This place can be a little hard to find, especially in the dark, even though it's close to the intersection of U.S. 15-501 and Interstate 40 in front of New Hope Commons. Turn on New Hope Commons Drive. On your right will be a Barnes & Noble. On your left, just past the Bicycle Chain and a row of self-storage units, just when you think you must've made a wrong turn, you'll see a gravel parking lot and a wood building with Straw Valley Cafe painted on it.

I think this event would be fine for kids 10 and up. Not so great for infants and small kids though.

Great! Thanks, Leslie! I've been here & it's a truly neat place to hang out. Pom food is yummy too! I'll have my 11-yr-old son with me that evening -- would it be okay if I brought him? If so, I'll RSVP closer to the date when I'm more certain that we can/cannot make it.
