Asking the right questions:Getting through imposter syndrome
When we enter the tech industry, we typically do it for ourselves, and are looking to promote ourselves. This is where we often fall short: trying to put ourselves over others. If we want to succeed, we need to help others on their terms. Asking the right questions to find out what needs to be worked on is critical to success in the job you have, and evaluating your next project or career pivot. This presentation is going to be focused on the soft skills of success, but will include some technical solutions that Sam has been a part of.
Sam Hetchler is currently a Senior IT Application Analyst at Vail Resorts, a multinational company that owns and operates over 40 mountain resorts. Sam has a background in data extraction, manipulation, validation, analysis, and presentation in both Microsoft and Oracle environments. He has worked in a call center, online ticketing, and electric utility using these hard skills. His last 4 years has been focused on change management and operational reliability through training and data-backed validation. When he’s not working, he’s spending time with his amazing family. He has also decided to return to school to finish up his degree that he abandoned over 10 years ago.
