Raleigh Discussion of "Understanding Comics"

This will be the Raleigh session on Monday, March 18th hosted at Centerline Digital.

We will be gathering to discuss "Understanding Comics" by Scott McCloud. The book club was inspired to read this by our very own Rachel Nabors, who wrote a great post for UX Booth that you should also check out:

You can find the book at Amazon for a reasonable price:

From Amazon: "A comic book about comic books. McCloud, in an incredibly accessible style, explains the details of how comics work: how they're composed, read and understood. More than just a book about comics, this gets to the heart of how we deal with visual languages in general. 'The potential of comics is limitless and exciting!' writes McCloud. This should be required reading for every school teacher. Pulitzer Prize-winner Art Spiegelman says, 'The most intelligent comics I've seen in a long time.'"

Parking will be along the street on North Street and Glenwood. There will be some snacks.

There will also be a Durham session on Wednesday, March 20th at the Duke Business School.

Perhaps the best discussion yet. A conversation that went from the abstract of language and communication to the concrete strategies of visual and interaction design and then back and forth a few times. This book was an excellent conversation starter.

Hey Everyone, I'm so sorry to do this last minute but I'm in crunch mode this week so I won't be able to attend tonight, which means I'll miss both meetings now. I hope it goes well! Definitely one of my favorite books.
