Just Sing! film at the Cary Theater
Details
Mark's got one light film for a rainy Saturday, so here's one for a rainy holiday weekend Sunday: Just Sing! It's a documentary about a college a capella group. There aren't a lot of reviews yet although it showed at a number of film festivals. The few comments on Letterboxd were positive. Here's how the Cary Theater describes it:
"In a world where one performance can define your future, JUST SING follows the electrifying journey of a top collegiate a cappella group chasing a national championship title on one of the world’s biggest stages in New York City.
From 5 a.m. rehearsals to midnight practices, the film drops audiences into a make-or-break season where ambition, identity, and friendship collide. As graduation looms and the pressure intensifies, these young performers must balance family expectations, personal struggles, and the relentless drive to be the best—knowing that win or lose, this chapter of their lives is coming to an end.
Blending high-energy, jaw-dropping musical performances with intimate, behind-the-scenes moments, JUST SING is more than a competition story—it’s a coming-of-age anthem about finding your voice before the spotlight fades."
The film is only 93 minutes. Given that it starts at 3, 4:30 will be too early for dinner in my book. But not too early for a drink, coffee or ice cream afterwards (all within walking distance).
