Trip logistics (RSVPs and gas)

  • 'Yes' means yes: As you are preventing others from signing up, you are committed to go. As indicated in the trip descritions, this can mean you will loose your membership/deposit if you cancel.
  • 'Waiting list' should be treated like a yes since the system will automatically move you to a yes as people cancel. Make sure to check your email regularly.
  • 'No' is anything else from 'not going' to 'seriously considering but cannot commit right now' or 'I didn't pay or respond to email'.
  • Make sure to check the refund policy beforehand.
Considering these things help to make it a successful outing for everyone!

Before the trip, make sure to study the description first and make sure you are in physical shape to do this, realistically. You typically can find additional information about the destination on the internet (Mr. Google knows.) If you're not 100% sure, contact the trip host before signing up. Make sure to put in your address book/white list, check your spam folders and filters and the web page for updates.

Once on the road, please consider that gas is only one part of the driving costs. Asking 5c/person/mile is very reasonable. Alternatively, with 3 paying passengers (or 2 in a small economic car), the driver/owner should not pay for gas; with fewer passengers, maybe 1/2. The driver decides. Passengers and drivers who are concerned about this, should bring up the discussion beforehand! Of course we try to use the most environmentally friendly and most economical options.

Leaders are in charge of their events and set the rules. However, unless stated otherwise, assume these general rules on outings. Use common sense and contact the trip organizer if in doubt. Please also confirm before taking minors or pets on a trip.
  • No speaker musik [instruments and singing are encouraged though!]
  • No weapons [tent pegs ok if used on tent only]
  • No drugs [unless everybody is ok with sharing]
  • No smoking [we came for the fresh air, right?]
  • Drink within reason [or at least don't annoy the trip leader]

All trips are private trips - Hike at your own risk!
