Difficulty: Intermediate. We will go at a somewhat quick pace, so this is NOT a beginner hike.
Total time: Plan on it taking 3 hours roundtrip.
Water: Bring at least 2 liters
Equipment needed: Flashlight, hiking pole (recommended)
Distance: 4.6 miles roundtrip
It’s time for a trip up to Maiden Pools. This is a very pretty hike where we go up the creek trail and we work our way up the canyon walls. The hike stays flat for the first half, but then it sharply gains elevation, with a final steep ¾ of a mile up the switchbacks. I will stop periodically to make sure that the group is still together. When we get to the top, we will rest for 5-10 minutes, then go back down.
You must bring a working flashlight on this hike, as it will be very dark and slippery. Make sure it works before you show up. Also, this hike tends to be very slippery due to the creek that we will frequently cross, so I strongly encourage bringing a hiking pole (or 2).
Also, this time of year, it tends to get pretty chilly at night, so dress prepared. I recommend dressing in layers, as you will heat up as you pick up the pace.
