Sat AM Hike at Nerstrand Big Woods SP + Lunch @Quarterback Club-Northfield

Let’s meet up for an invigorating winter hike at Nerstrand Big Woods State Park! Following the hike(optional), join us for food/drinks(broasted chicken?!?) at Quarterback Club Family Restaurant, 116 West 3rd St, Northfield, MN 55057.

We will hike approximately 6 miles at a medium pace (19-20 minute mile) over a variety of landscapes including wetlands, hardwood forest, prairie and rolling hills before we take a break by the beautiful frozen Hidden Falls. Expect to be hiking 2-2 ½ hours. We will stop a few times to hydrate and enjoy the scenery.

All of the trails will be non-paved trails with uneven terrain. Grippers/traction devices(ie: Kahtoola Microspikes) on your boots and/or poles are recommended for navigating the packed snow and ice on the trail at this time of year.

FACILITIES: Pit toilets are available at the trailhead. An outdoor potable water spigot is available by the ranger station.

Sorry, no dogs, +1s or children allowed. Only Twin Cities Hiking Meetup members who agree to these expectations will be welcome on the hike.

Each car will need a MN state park pass. The prices are: $35 for an annual pass and $7 for a daily pass.
