FRUITLUCK and DURIAN TASTING!

  • Aug 11, 2013 · 1:00 PM
  • This location is shown only to members

Bring ripe fruit (spotted bananas, soft stone fruits, etc...) and come chill with Jason and I near the Lake Harriet Band Shell!

Bring about $5-$7 in cash if you'd like to share some durian with us.

I'm hoping a lot of you fruities come out to share! I am one of the organizers on the fruitluck team in Los Angeles. This is my first fruitluck in the Twin Cities.

Cheers, Apryl "Rawmacita" Electra

PS - I have called around to a number of local wholesalers. I would love to discuss splitting cases with anyone who might be open to it!

    Friends,

It was really cool meeting everyone!

I posted this in the discussion thread too but I'm not sure everyone got a notification.

Ideally I'd like to buy from coop partners since they provide the best prices. However you need to have a $100 minimum order and sometimes I don't spend that much.

Does anyone else here want to purchase with me as a group so we can meet the $100 minimum?

We could even have a weekly Fruit Lovers shopping day to make it easy... let me know your thoughts.

The mangoes I had at the get together cost $12.51 for 12

A 40 lb box of bananas was $33.90

Those are better prices for organic produce than the normal co-ops like the Wedge.

    Let me know,
    Matt

I can email you the current price list for co-op partners... I might make a run over there like Monday or Tues.

Anyone feel free to let me know if you want to jump on this fruit wagon :D

There is a whole list of certified organic fruits and veg on this spreadsheet that I have.

It was so nice to meet you all! I would be willing to hold a fruitluck at my house if anyone is willing to carpool to Shakopee not this Saturday but the next. I was thinking an icecream (fruit) social like Donna mentioned. I have a juicer and a vitamix :)

Anyone have any ideas of a nearby shelter if we get rained out? I wouldn't want to cancel the fun because of a little rain.

There is a huge gazebo near where we'll be at. No worries!!!

Just wanted to check--will we be meeting at the picnic tables right near the bandshell or will we be kind of across the path near the grassy area?

    Thanks!

Not sure! Jason picked the location because I haven't lived here since 2010... I'm going in blind! Eeeee...

we'll be meeting at the picnic tables right near the bandshell. I'll have on a black Vegan t-shirt. The piles of fruit should be a dead giveaway too:)

I have a friends going away party that just got scheduled for this time. I was looking forward to meeting you all and sharing some food with you.

We'll have to schedule more get togethers as I look forward to talking to everyone.

    Have a great time.

Bummer! I'll host another when I return from the fruit fest! Enjoy...

Can I bring a couple friends? Does it have to be organic fruit? What is everyone else bringing?

    August 9, 2013

    • Apryl Electra S.

Please do! Fruit should be ripe, organic is a bonus as some of us might not eat conventional produce. Cheers!!!

I would be interested in splitting a case of fruit with you--what are you looking at specifically?
    Thanks!

I'm out of town until the fruitluck, so we'll have to discuss the day of unless anyone would like to make plans together beforehand. I leave again next week so I won't need cases until Sept. can't wait to meet you all!

Would it be alright to bring a green fruit like Cucumbers?

    Hi, Apryl!

Me and my partner are also interested in splitting cases, but only if they're organic. What kind of fruit are you looking into getting?

I forgot to add that we're interested in fair trade too (I think I've mostly seen this for bananas, but nothing else that I can think of). The one that comes to mind that's local is Equal Exchange, I think.
