This play sounds sooo interesting. I was to go with a friend last Friday but had to decline. She then posted further information on facebook and after reading it I knew I had to go for sure (thanks, Liz!). I'm hoping some of you will join me to experience this one too. It captured me because of the history behind it: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A_Modest_Proposal Alot to read but wow.
Anyway, here's what the write up says...
A Modest Proposal is a world premiere satire inspired by the Jonathan Swift essay of the same name. In 1729 Ireland, the O’Really family has fallen upon hard times. They must take out loan after loan in order to make ends meet as their family continues to grow. Unable to pay off the loans, all seems bleak until word spreads of an enlightening new essay by Jonathan Swift that humbly suggests that when parents can no longer be the bread winners, the children can literally become the bread. Join Box Wine Theatre for a dark and hilarious romp to see what can happen when people just don’t understand satire.
If you can, please arrive by 6PM so we can all go in to the performance area together. I'll be there by 5:45 to greet you. We can then chat, order food and beverage if you so choose, I would strongly suggest calling Bryant Lake Bowl no later than Thursday to order your ticket. (612)[masked] $10.00 then. Cheaper than ordering on line. $10.00 if you order ahead or $12.00 at the door unless you have the Fringe button or a canned donation which knocks off $2.00 which then is back to $10.00 BLB are really poofy on allowing me to save seats so that's why I'd really like to have you come by 6 so we can claim the seats as a group.
I hope some of you will join me so we can experience this play together! :)
