Instead, my understanding is that the company’s plans and accompanying technology is considerably more ambitious. Mondo recently shattered all fundraising records when it met its 1 million target on crowdfunding site CrowdCube a 1 min 37 seconds! In addition to applying for a full banking license in its own right — meaning that it will be able to generate revenue through lending out bank deposits — Mondo is busy writing its own full stack banking software from scratch. This is enabling the company to create what Blomfield calls on his LinkedIn profile a “smart” bank, with features that aren’t always possible simply by plugging into legacy banking software and infrastructure that often dates as far back as the 1970s. Chris Gledhill, Founder Secco Bank Consistently reckoned Top Global FinTech influencer, writer, speaker, technologist and futurist, Chris is on a mission to reinvent banking. Secco is an early-stage full-stack UK Challenger Bank seeking to reinvent retail and business banking. Our vision is to create a world where your worth is the content of your character, not the contents of your wallet. Secco takes banking back to first-principles and rebuilds it for the 21st century using emerging technologies and disruptive business models. In Secco you and your money are interchangeable - you can literally save/spend/invest/lend and earn interest on your data! Ian Thomas, Lend Invest Technology company Beijing Kunlun invested £22 million ($34.2 million) in peer-to-peer mortgage lender LendInvest in the biggest Series A round so far in British fintech. LendInvest's mortgage marketplace matches people looking for quick, short-term mortgage funding with people hoping to get a better return on the money they lend. Because online lenders let savers lend money directly, borrowers pay less interest, and lenders get a better return. The company was officially launched in May 2013, when it was spun out of short-term mortgage lending business Montello. Since then, it has financed over £300 million worth of mortgages. Cutting out the middleman lets LendInvest give both sides a better rate, CEO Christopher Faes told Business Insider, and means that they can get applicants their money in just two weeks, compared to the three months banks usually take. He added: "LendInvest are re-thinking the whole mortgage process, and using technology to provide an unrivalled experience for borrowers, and a superior return for investors. Peer-to-peer is a relatively broad church, and it has made significant inroads in the consumer and SME lending space already, and now we're using it to disrupt the mortgage market in the UK." Albert is the mobile app that makes finances for self-employed - such as invoices, expenses and payments - incredibly easy from a phone. Having been freelancers ourselves, the idea was born out of frustration with existing complicated tools. To make finances easy for everyone, the Albert team redesigned its concept and based it on a paradigm we all know: email. With over 10 years of experience heading up mobile design at companies like Vodafone, RBS and Ubuntu, Ivo’s designs have been featured in the Wall Street Journal, Businessweek and Fast Company, and have gone on to win multiple awards, including the Cannes Gold Mobile Lion and the BIMA innovation award.
