• Ukiah Photography Club October Meeting

    Mountain Mike's Pizza

This month we will critique our just finished show. How can we make it better? Should we try a theme (like, perhaps, Mendocino County) or do we stay with an eclectic approach? Are there members who want to step in to take over some of the pre-show tasks (publicity, labels, collecting money)? Most importantly, do we commit to the Corner Gallery to continue with September? We will have another mystery photo critique and time for photo questions and discussions. Our theme is "water" - please limit yourself to 5 photos.

  • Ukiah Photography Club Annual Show take-down

    Corner Gallery

It's time to retrieve your work. If you can't be there make arrangements for someone to do it for you. Also, it's time to start preparing for next year's show.

  • First Friday Art Walk

    Corner Gallery

Celebrate the best work of the Ukiah Photography Club. A splendid time is guaranteed for all.

  • Ukiah Photography Club Annual Show setup

    Corner Gallery

This is a cooperative effort that always seems to work out. Right now there are 8 participants and 2 maybes, plus we hope to have a few of Judy Judd's photos. If you haven't already, go into the gallery and think about how we can best use the space (we have both sides of the front). The far right wall is usually a challenge, with a door and an electrical box. We usually need some smaller photos for the window sills and pedestals. If you can't be there make arrangements for someone to bring in your work. Keep in mind that we may need to limit what each photographer can show, depending on the number of participants and the size of the photos.

  • Ukiah Photography Club September meeting

    Mountain Mike's Pizza

This is our last meeting before the show, so we will clarify set-up time and any other related issues. Chris will provide us with a mystery photo to critique (not Beatles). Our theme this month will be contrast / unity / variety. There will be the usual time for photography-related announcements, discussions, and show-and-tell.

  • Ukiah Photography Club August meeting

    Mountain Mike's Pizza

Our theme this month is "movement / patterns / rhythm". As defined by Mimi Booth: "Movement (implied) is achieved through body postures, lines, repetition, or blurring. Patterns can be repetitive shapes, lines, colors, or textures. Rhythm is a feeling of flow from repetitive patterns, bringing harmony, similar to music." We will further discuss the September show and collect $25 dues from those who have not previously paid. There will be another mystery photo critique and the usual time for photographic discussions.

  • Ukiah Photography Club July meeting

    Mountain Mike's Pizza

Our theme for this month is "Emphasis" - as defined by Mimi Booth this is "the dominant feature in the photo. It is sometimes created through contrast, size, color, leading lines, blurred focus of negative space, or placement in the composition". Please be prepared to pay your $25 dues (covers August 2019 through July 2020). If you prefer to write a check, make it out to Tom Raymondson and I will transfer to our treasury (we don't have an account). We will discuss whether the club can cover some of the cost of the show ($340) or whether it will fall entirely on the participants (currently six). There will be time for photo-related questions, discussions, and show-and-tell (I would love to see this mythical $13,000 lens). We'll have another mystery photo critique. Finally, let's try to make a commitment to Mountain Mikes, first Sunday, if that in fact is our consensus preference.

  • Ukiah Photography Club June meeting

    Mountain Mike's Pizza

Our June meeting will stay at Mountain Mike's Pizza, but will return to Sunday morning (11:00 rather than 10:00). Keep in mind that this is a work in progress as we try to find the right balance of location, day, and time for the majority of our members. Bring your appetite for lunch around noon, which will be some combination of group and/or individual orders (there is no cost for the room, but we're certainly expected to provide them with some business). You can download Mimi Booth's very informative presentation on this month's theme of Balance at https://www.tomraymondsonphotography.net/ukiah-photography-club/ . We will refine our tentative list of September show participants (right now only four - we definitely need more). Plus we will have a mystery photo critique. If you are in contact with members who are less than fastidious about following the web site, let them know about the schedule changes. Now get out there and take some pictures!

  • Ukiah Photography Club May Meeting

    Mountain Mike's Pizza

Note: *CHANGE IN LOCATION* *CHANGE IN DAY* *CHANGE IN TIME*. This is a one-time experiment. Bring your appetite - we will decide what to order when we get there (I'm thinking perhaps a large pizza with meat and a large without meat) and figure out how best to split the cost. Drinks can be on each individual. Otherwise, it willl be a regular meeting - we can view our photos on a large-screen tv. The theme this month (as usual, a suggestion not a requirement) is "Mood" - see https://www.tomraymondsonphotography.net/ukiah-photography-club/ . I had to put down a $100 deposit from the Club treasury (refundable if we don't trash the place). We will take some time to evaluate the appropriateness of location/day/time.

  • Ukiah Photography Club April meeting

    Motel Six (formerly Discovery Inn)

Our April theme (suggested, not required) is space / form (see the handout or https://www.tomraymondsonphotography.net/ukiah-photography-club/ for description). Please limit yourself to 3 - 5 photos and consider designating one for more in-depth critique. There will be time for show-and-tell and photography-related announcements and discussions.
