FIFTH ANNUAL - Uke of the Irish - Hooligan's Pub - Arlington, TX

The OPEN MIC portion of this gathering IS FULL.

If you received an email from Kathy Levine saying that you have a CONFIRMED SPOT, then you are on the OPEN MIC list.

Wait list for OPEN MIC performance is available.

Due to the past overwhelming response to the OPEN MIC portion of this event, there will only be 10 OPEN MIC spots. Once those slots are filled, there will be a wait list. Should a performer no-show that has a confirmed slot, we will pull from the wait list.

This will be our 5th year to hold our ANNUAL St. Patrick's Day event at HOOLIGAN'S PUB in Arlington, TX

In honor of our 5th year we will have a Firkin.

What is a Firkin, You may not be aware of this, but not all beer comes in bottles or kegs. Some beer is served up in a special container called a firkin. A firkin, which is derived from the Middle Dutch word vierdekijn (meaning fourth), is actually a small barrel of beer that is one-fourth the size of a regular barrel of beer.

What makes the firkin so special? It is the fact that the firkin is typically dedicated to housing Real Ale (i.e., cask-conditioned ale), or beer that has not been cold-filtered, pasteurized and carbonated by outside equipment.

BEER along with great hamburgers from TWISTED ROOT and LOT's of folks wearing GREEN.

This will be an OPEN MIC and GROUP JAM event.

Due to the past overwhelming response to the OPEN MIC portion of this event, there will only be 10 OPEN MIC spots. Once those slots are filled, there will be a wait list. Should a performer no-show that has a confirmed slot, we will pull from the wait list.

Please limit your performance for OPEN MIC to 3-5 minutes.

This year we will have a FIRST, SECOND and THIRD prize winner for the one who is MOST green and St. Patrick's Day like

Last years First place winner was Jerry Isabell-Hays (pictured below)

So get your GREEN ON and join in the FUN!

From the "Daily Ukulele" Song book

We will be playing the following songs from The Daily Ukulele:

  • Danny Boy Page 59
  • My Bonnie Page 167
  • Too-Ra-Loo-Ra-Loo-Ra Page 288

Great fun. Liked the close proximity during the performances and jams, that really works! Fantastic event Mark and Kathy, as usual!
Sister Mary David sends her blessings. Although she was disappointed to learn that the new Pope Francis was not Irish,
she found the DUH celebration at Hooligan's Pub to be magically delicious. And for all the DUH flock, Sister Mary David says to say that she only has ears for you. Pax out.

This is always a fantastic venue and this year was certainly the best yet. Great group, great M.C., excellent tunes at open mic, excellent service, drinks and food. The hamburgers they got for us next door are some of the best I have had.
