Welcome to the 2nd Dallas Ukulele Headquarters Talent Competition!

This will be an Open Mic competition between ukulele players for cash prizes. We are creating a separate category for amatuer players and for professional players, so more people can feel comfortable competing.

Where does the cash prize come from? There will be a $5.00 charge per person who attends, including both audience and performers. 10% will be a club donation to raise funds for future workshops and concerts. Your $5.oo will need to be cash, either a $5 bill or 5 $1 bills.

If 20 people come, we’ll have $90 to divide up as prizes. If 50 people come, we’ll have $225. The more people, the higher the prizes.

Winners will be determined by members of the audience, who will score each performer on a ballot in 3 areas:

Ukulele Skills (Rate 1-10, 10 being high)

Showmanship (Rate 1-10, 10 being high)

Overall performance (Rate 1-10, 10 being high)

At the end of the evening, the ballots will be collected and tabulated, and winners will be announced:

1st Prize Professional: 30% of the pot

2nd Prize Professional: 20% of the pot

1st Prize Amatuer: 30% of the pot

2nd Prize Amatuer: 20% of the pot

So, for example, if we had 50 people who came and $230 in the pot:

1st prize Professsional: $69

2nd prize Professional: $46

1st prize Amatuer: $69

2nd prize Amatuer: $46

So practice up your best song, or just come down to listen to the very best Dallas Ukulele Headquarters has to offer!

Fine print: A $5.00 cash payment is required for attendance, whether you are performing or not. All ballots will need to be filled out completely. Incomplete ballots may be discarded at the discretion of the tabulators. Performers will perform one song, no longer than 5 minutes in length. Performers can be solo or a group, but will be judged as a single act. This is a ukulele competition: A ukulele is required as part of your performance.
