- Hike in Umstead State Park on the Yellow Dot Trail by the Odd Fellows Tract2232 Old Reedy Creek Rd, Cary, NC
Interested in learning more about the Odd Fellows Tract - the 105 (-14) acre site of the proposed RDU Quarry? Join us on this hike to learn about the history of the Odd Fellows Tract (and why it's called that), the current status of the #StopRDUQuarry fight and to see a stunning section of Umstead State Park.
We'll hike by Foxcroft Lake to Crabtree Creek and beautiful rock outcrops in Umstead State Park near the Company Mill Trail (seen in the photo above!). This will be a slow-paced hike - expect to stop often for discussions. Hiking boots are recommended since we'll be off trail and in the forest. Hiking poles may also be useful. This is an out and back hike and will stay on State Park property. This hike goes rain or shine. The total distance is approximately two miles.
The hike will be led by Dr. Jean Spooner, Chair of the Umstead Coalition.
