Come and enjoy some premium, artisanal, and rare teas at Tea Gathering for UC Berkeley students from 2:30pm to 4:00pm!
This event will be held at Universal Chan (address is 1436 University Ave. Berkeley. Two blocks away from North Berkeley BART). Relax and drink some tea and learn about the uniqueness and processing of each tea.
Originating in China thousands of years ago, tea has become one of the most popular aromatic and healthy beverages in today’s world. It has been widely known that drinking tea is good for overall health, and tea can be used in medical treatments. However, beyond its physical benefits, tea can also bring invaluable cultural and spiritual value to our life.
In China, tea is an indispensable drink to host gatherings of friends and other guests. It is a way to bring people together, socialize, promote relationships, bridge gaps, and forge bonds.
There are numerous varieties of tea in China. Each tea has its distinctive taste and aroma which keeps subtly, and delicately, changing in the process of brewing. It requires some patience, mindfulness, and clear awareness to brew tea properly and to truly appreciate the beauty of tea. When the tea is prepared in a careful and mindful way by the host and deeply appreciated by the guest, a harmonized, tranquil, and purified atmosphere is naturally created. This process itself is a good way to harmonize our body and mind so as to calm ourselves down in this fast-paced world.
We will incorporate a little bit of meditation and relaxation technique in the beginning to practice calming the mind first in order to be able to better appreciate and really enjoy the tea. The tea will be prepared in the traditional way of the gongfu tea ceremony.
These Tea Sessions will take place throughout the Fall semester once every 2 weeks on Saturdays, and in each session we will taste and focus on a different varietal of tea.
Grab your friends and roommates and let's have some tea!! 🍵🍵🍵
Please arrive 15 min early because we will start at 2:30pm sharp. Thanks!!
