Welcome to Scotland's biggest and busiest social group for gay and bi men! If you're looking for something a bit different from the apps and the scene then Unscene Edinburgh is for you. We're all about meeting up in real life to do great stuff, so when you join you'll need a clear and recent face pic of yourself as your profile picture. (Best not doing this on the phone app) This will help us recognise you when you're attending Unscene events.
We welcome anyone who's looking for a break from the apps and the scene routine, to come and hang out, make friends, meet interesting folk, explore the city and the outdoors, and have fun doing a wide variety of activities.
Think after work pub meets, midweek dinners, Sunday morning brunches, coast walks, canoeing, bowling, rock climbing, Munro's, cycling, quizzes and cinema. Plus all the great one-off events that Edinburgh offers!
Everything you've ever wanted to do, but never quite got there. Well now you can!
Most of our events are free, but some require payment by PayPal, so best set up an account now, if you haven't already got one. You can do it here - PayPal (https://www.paypal.com/uk/home)
Who we are:
This is a group where we leave judgement at the door, we respect your individuality and encourage you to find an interest in things that you'd never have thought you'd do before. Unscene Edinburgh is for all gay and bi men, and for anyone who identifies and presents as male, and is attracted to men. We'll do our utmost to make you all feel welcome, and if you've never ventured out and met folk on your own, then now is the time - you really couldn't find a friendlier bunch.
Who we're not:
We're not a group that's anti scene, and we don't carry bitchy attitudes. We welcome single guys and couples. We're not about hooking up, but if you do manage to find the love of your life, great! Oh and we expect an invite to the wedding!
Photo and profile policy
As the group is not about hooking up with other guys, please keep your profile pic and bio clean. And, as we're all about meeting up in real life, and only members can see who's in the group, we expect everyone to use their first or full name and have a recent face pic. That will help our event hosts recognise who they are supposed to be looking out for. It will also help avoid the other guys coming to the event from feeling uncomfortable with people seeming to hide their face.
Best to log in to the Meetup site direct and not via Facebook, Google or another site which might upload a profile pic that isn't your face pic. But if showing your face would create a real difficulty for you then please get in touch and tell us why. We might agree to let you only show your face pic when you sign up for an event and until the event is over. Otherwise, to join Unscene and attend an event, you must have your name and recent face pic on your profile.
