New Meetup: Upper Whitewater Falls Morning Hike

From: Susan C
Sent on: Friday, September 21, 2012 1:46 PM

Announcing a new Meetup for Upstate Hiking and Outdoor Adventures!

What: Upper Whitewater Falls Morning Hike
When: Monday, September 24,[masked]:15 AM

Where: Kmart
5155 Calhoun Memorial Highway
Easley, SC 29642

This is one of my most favorite hikes. Not because of the falls but because of the river and the huge boulders along the way. When you get to the White Water River you will cross it using the metal bridge. Take the trail going to the left - up river. For the most part the trail follows the river for a couple of miles. At the upper part of the river you will come across huge boulders making a great bridge to the other side of the river. You will need to cross the river here. The trail is strenuous from here to the top with a lot of stair climbing. The trail ends at the platform overlooking Upper White Water Falls.

If you think the stair section at the end will be too much for you, you can sit at the bridge and enjoy the view of the river.

We will be taking a couple of breaks along the way to enjoy the views.  We will also be taking a one mile side hike.

Aproximate hiking distance 7 miles.

Bring a snack, water and your camera.

We will carpool from Kmart to save on gas since this is a fairly long drive.

We will split the cost of fuel since this is a fairly long drive.  It will take us about an hour and fifteen minutes to get there from Easley.

Since we are carpooling, I will not be bringing my dog.

Bring money for a meal afterwards if you want to join us.  Awesome hike!

Check it out!
