Star Trek movie night and pool party!

  • Sep 21, 2013 · 5:00 PM
  • The Auspland's home

I was wondering if any of you guys and gals would like to get together with some of the people from our comic book/cosplay group for a movie night. We could do all original series movies, all next generation movies, or whatever you guys feel like! I don't know where we could all get together (our apartment is kinda small) so if anyone has a house or a large space they wouldn't mind having us congregate in please let us know. Just a suggestion, but I think it would be a lot fun! Definitely a chance to hang out and meet some more Trek fans :D

    Hey fellow Trekkers!
House is clean, salads are being made and the grill is cleaned and ready for cooking!
Wouldn't if figure we get a nice day and we can't swim? That sucks, but we are looking forward to great friends and Trekking together in role playing, good conversations, good food, Romulan Ale, Klingon Blood Wine and whatever everyone else brings to the shin-dig!
Looking forward to seeing everyone throughout the afternoon guys and gals.
Remember if your lost or confused, just call us and we'll talk you into the shuttle bay.

Keith, no worries about the pool. We can always try that again next Summer! There will still be plenty to do and it should be a blast. Since you have offered your house for the future, I have kinda been kicking around the idea of having a costume / uniform party in October, maybe the 19th or 26th. This would be an opportunity for everyone to show off their Trek uniforms and our CosPlay friends in the other meetup could keep it interesting with all kinds of different costumes. What do you think?

Love the idea! We would be in for sure.

The meeting/party/movies/gaming/anything else Trek related is STILL GOING ON!!!! Just little bit of bad Romulan luck will NOT spoil this get together.
Can anyone else who is coming let us know what u r bringing to the shindig? And also remember this IS a kid friendly evebt, and any alcohol is strictly a BYOB event. We have five bedrooms so plenty of room for people to crash if needed. Any questions, feel free to call me, Keith at[masked]-5784. See y'all tomorrow.

Pool repair update: unfortunately the part that was expedited for the pool motor was unsuccessful. I just ordered an entirely brand new motor but alas, the customs agents on the Cardassian Demilitarized Zone cannot preclear any machine parts over the weekend and the new motor won't arrive until Monday morning. We are truly sorry for the pool festivities ni t being available but looking at the forecast for tomorrow we may be better off.

The newly minted candidates for the civilian survey mission of the Cardassian DMZ circa 2369 now have ther personel files in the Ship's site under discussions. This crew will serve as the senior bridge crew for the USS LINNET, a federation science council survey ship that will be departing Starbase 310 and the Alpha Triangulari repair yards where it has gone under it's latest retrofit. Its first mission will be a survey of a Class M planet in the recently discovered Volon System. The NACAP (Native American Council of Anthropological Preservation) Have recieved a grant from the Federation Science Council to explore the possibilities of a new colony on this planet.
Players, be sure to look over your character in the Discussions tab on this site! We will have character sheets for you Saturday! Map of the Cardassian DMZ

First of all both April and I would like to tell y'all that after we walked into the group meeting this afternoon and the introductions were accomplished, we felt like we were sitting down with friends that we have known for decades, not people that we had just met.
I believe that this feeling, or rather this openness and warmness that is shared between Trek fans is universal and one of the greatest gifts that Trek allows people to enjoy with each other. Every single person that I have ever met who is associated in one way or another in Trek has been welcoming, open, friendly and have been more than willing to share their passion of Star Trek with complete strangers! Where else can you go and sit down with strangers and feel completely at home and feel as if you were with family?
Our sincere and deep appreciation to everyone who was at the meeting today for the awesome physical welcoming that we received today!

I will post the directions to our home shortly.

Scott; I completely agree and thank you for your kind response to my posting yesterday. One of the GREATEST gifts that Roddenberry gave the world was the vision and the dream that one day we could all come together and move beyond our pettiness and our skin colors, sexual orientations, religions, jobs, income, social status, and the like and work together for a common goal and for the common good (yes, much like a Socialist mentality, Matt!, lol!) When we were all sitting around the table it was like we had known everyone for years, it is THAT commonality that is unique to all things TREK. Star Trek is a universal sign and badge of honor for people who love the idealism of Roddenberry and want to be considered for what is in our minds, and our souls, what drives us and what makes us passionate, not the way we talk or the way we walk or the way we look.

Also, one quick note about Saturday. Unfortunately the BORG have assimilated the motor to our pool filter and we have sent out to the closest Starbase for a replacement part. We should have the part in via the Denube IV shuttle service on Wednesday or Thursday and the repairs will be made by Nanoc in time to rescue the Saturday festivities. Just in case the Cardassians intercept the shuttle and destroy the shipment, I wanted all to be aware. We will keep you posted on the progress of the repairs.-Nanoc

    Jani;
That sounds great! Also it was such a pleasure to finally put a voice and a real-life face to what was previously only electronic recognition. From the moment we walked into the meeting today and after introductions, we felt COMPLETELY at ease and it was like we were sitting down with friends we've known for years.

I will post the exact directions on the website here in just a few minutes for everyone.
Nice once again, Jani to finally meet you.

Hey guys I know that I and my wife April are new to the group but.....we do have a very nice home in Jeffersonville, Indiana with a large living room, a large backyard with a large pool and the best feature as far as movie night is: a 73" television with sorround sound and Blue-Ray/DVD player.....
I read where Scott can't make it on weeknights, so I am suggesting a Saturday night in September. I have all TOS remastered on DVD and all of the movies, every series in complete on DVD.
    What does everyone think?

hate the enter key!!!! Also don't forget that we have a 30' x 52" pool in our closed in back yard. we can bar b q if everyone agrees or just bring prepared foods. in any event our address is as follows: 787 Rose Avenue, Jeffersonville, Indiana 47130. We will both be at the Sunday meeting the week prior to the movie night to meet and talk with everyone who comes to the monthly meeting.

I work 2nd shift M-F, so I can't make it if we do it on a weekday night. I am available all day/night on Saturday & Sunday though. Hopefully we can find a place soon. I think Sane offered his house in Mid-August?

Reiterating what I posted in our comic and cosplay group:

So far it looks like we've got roughly 6 or 7 people likely to show up, counting Patrick, myself, and people from the comic and cosplay group. In that case, it's possible that we could all gather in our apartment, provided some people don't mind sitting on the floor :P And since Andy has all of this shit on dvd I'm suggesting we do this on a wed or thur evening. What does everyone think about that? I'm hoping to have this worked out so we can do this next week sometime.
