Monday Night Alternative: Reynolds Peak Loop Hike

These hikes are for people who wonder why other people think inside of boxes.
We will meet at the park & ride at the mouth of Big Cottonwood canyon. We will then carpool to the Butler Fork trail head. From here we go roughly 2 3/4 miles and 1700 ft in elevation to Dog lake. From Dog Lake we head SW another half mile and 650 ft in elevation. The path to the summit will likely be off trail, light brush and woods, until we reach the ridge where we should encounter a light trail, leading us the rest of the way. Here we break, snack, celebrate our mutually shared awesomeness, and marvel in all the really cool stuff we'll be seeing.
On the way down we'll take the Mill D North Fork trail. This path is slightly shorter than the one we will have used to ascend. When we reach trail head (about a mile up the canyon from the trail we started on), a driver will shuttle the other drivers down to pick up the other cars. We can then go get something to eat and celebrate yet another amazing Monday survived.
This should end up being 6 to 7 miles total with an elevation gain of around 2300 ft. This will be a moderate hike.
Please be aware and prepared for weather conditions. Bring water, a hearty snack, a light and a bad-ass attitude.
Full disclaimer: I have not done this hike. I am not a tour guide.
This will be sweet!

Good news it is raining now(4:15) at the mouth of Big Cottonwood, which means that it will likely result in nothing but cooler temps and a clean fresh smell for the hike. If it rains like this for 2 hours Utah won't be a desert any more:)
