Easy hike in Park City - Round Valley

For an alternative Monday night hike we will head up to Park City.

Meetup location: 3900 S. Wasatch Blvd. We will meet at 6:00pm and leave at 6:10pm

Driving Directions to trail head: On I-80, turn south at Silver Creek Junction (towards Heber). At the second exit (about 3 miles later) turn right towards Park City on Kearns Blvd (Highway 248). Less than 1/4 mile from the exit, turn right at the light onto Round Valley Drive. Quickly turn left onto Gilmor Way. Follow it around (pass the first parking lot) and veer north. You'll pass parking lots on your right. Quinn's TH is across Gilmor Way.

Description of hike: This trail is an easy, 5mi loop hike that gains only 500ft elevation. The trail is wide with no shade or water for the dogs. You see nice views of the East side of the Wasatch mountains. Beware of mountain bikers.

Dogs: allowed off leash. Bring PLENTY of water. I suggest 1 liter per dog.

What to bring: plenty of water, hat

I'm in park city. What time should I be at the trailhead?

I may be late if I'm able to make it at all. Leading a small hike with out of town coworkers right now. Sad to miss since this one is close to where I live.

Round Valley is most definitely not an off-leash area, please be aware you 'could' be fined. There is a small off-leash dog park near the trailhead that you may be thinking of (though it's a pretty lame dog park). Round Valley is quite popular with mountain bikes, trail runners, and hikers, so if you go off-leash, please be prepared to control/leash your dog when encountering trail users. This has become a very contentious issue at Round Valley. I let mine off and risk it, but always am ready to leash them if other people or pets approach. Just an FYI :-)

Is this new, didn't recall any signs posted about this?

All of Park City is actually "leash required" but most people are pretty chill about it. Just be a 'good owner' and have a leash with you and it should be cool. There is the occassional person who might get in your face about it.
