Rio Salado The last of the year

  • This location is shown only to members

  • According to some ROs there, it has been crazy busy recently with little sign of changing. So in order for us to get benches that are together we have to all be there.  Even then no guarantee of enough benches. They will not hold benches if there are just one or three people, but assign you to a single bench.

Now if I have enough with me but not everyone I will go ahead and get us as many benches as I can.  Usually 1 for long gun and 1 or 2 if possible and as needed for handgun.  Most of the ROs know who I am, that I'm with the Valley Gun Group so if you arrive late, ask one.

Rio is located on Ellsworth just inside the Tonto on the left side going north. 7 miles or so from 60.  Can take the 202 and get off at Brown or McKellips head east then left on Ellsworth.

$10 for non-members to shoot all day.  First time shooters will probably have to watch a 4 minute or so safety vid.

Bring eyes, ears, targets(non-exploding kind), though they sell all three there.

They sell eyes, ears, targets and rent lead sleds and spotting scopes.

They require eye protection worn all the time once on the range.  Eye glasses count as eye protection.  I have 2 extra sets of eye protection, if someone needs to borrow one let me know BEFORE Sunday.

Paper targets from 11yds to 200yds

Steel plates at 200yds and 300yds

They have scuttlebutts and a soda vending machine on the range.  Indoor plumbing on the other side of the parking lot.

I'll let anyone shoot anything I bring, no worries although mostly I shoot ole timey guns, lever action, bolt action, single action revolvers/pistols.

One can text me at[masked] if there are questions or something comes up and you cannot make it after RSVPing 'Yes' or are running late.  Last second RSVPs, no worries. Ensure you include your name so I know who is sending it.  I do not remember nor retain the text messages that have no name.  Those with names  I add my contact list.  Until I decide to get a smart phone I will not be able to see the posted Meetup on the web.
