Once again the staff had no knowledge of our meeting and we were put in a room on the 3rd floor with really bad acoustics. But the meeting itself led by Diane was great and I learned a few more tips!

Someone from VPL did send us an apology by e-mail later. I think they are doing their best, but seems challenging circumstances there. On the bright side, today the film machine worked well & I found every single newspaper reference on my list! (And many more interesting or intriguing ones. Couldn't pass any up.)

For those interested in Mountain View Cemetery in Vancouver, I added the cemetery info links to this article about the upcoming Women of Mountain View tour: http://www.bcgs.ca/?p=3272
The former Mountain View site has a burial list by surname and maps, and lists of notable people, etc.
The BCGS Library has a cabinet full of the inscriptions from headstones - done in the 1980s. As I mentioned, some stones are no longer there (as damaged or vandalized) so those inscription transcriptions are valuable.
The cemetery office is very helpful, so if you can e-mail them ahead or go when the office is open, as long as they have time, I'm sure they will do their best to assist you. In the case of unmarked graves they are usually willing to put a marker on the area so that you can more easily find it, for instance.

Hi! My nephew would like a family history, and it's a bit overwhelming. Started with family tree, but stalled. Tips on how to start and be organized welcome.
To meet :-) Maureen (from Dyster, Salo; Carroll, Mays, Lucas)
