Abstract for "Ephemeral database credentials with Vault and Terraform":

The longer passwords exist, the higher the chance that they will be compromised. As soon as you create credentials, the clock is ticking and they’re already becoming less secure. Vault has the ability to generate database credentials dynamically based on configured roles, allowing us to generate ephemeral credentials across all our PostgreSQL and MySQL databases.

In this talk, we wish to share our journey rolling out ephemeral database credentials for our services running on Kubernetes using Vault and Terraform.
