Re: [ruby-112] Rails 2.0 Preview Now Out - What's New In Rails 2.0

I'm on rails edge with a couple projects - one in beta and one in late
stages of development.

"sexy migrations"
=================
t.column :name, :string
-- becomes --
t.string :name

It should be sexier, but for some reason my brain just can't be wrapped
around the datatype being on the left. Perhaps it's just a matter of time.

t.column :updated_at, :datetime
t.column :created_at, :datetime
-- becomes --
t.timestamps

+1 dead sexy.

Par of "much more"
==================

wants.json {
   render(:json => @artists.to_json(
     {:only => [:id, :name]}
   ))
}

+1 replaces json hackery and plugins.

"HTTP Love"
===========

 From the release:
Mime.register_alias "text/html", :iphone

more importantly to me:
Mime.register_alias "text/html", :fbml

+1 - need I say more?

"Action Pack: Exception handling"
=================================

rescue_from User::NotAuthorized, :with => :deny_access

+1 - So needed

Problems
========

The only problems I'm running into are various plugins that dip a bit
too deep into core rails were breaking on things like no_method errors.
  (Geokit as an example)

I've been waiting for the official 2.0 to submit any patches, looks like
I waited a few days too long.

Cheers, Simon
