After a long time we finally have our first 2018 VanPy meetup.
This time we are proud to have two very special talks. Join us on Tuesday, May 15th @6pm at the Eventbase Office, 1280 Homer Street. Talks will start at 6:30pm. Please make sure to arrive on time.
The talks of the evening will be:
* An Introduction to Deep Learning using Python
A brief introduction to deep learning, including some example applications and challenges behind it. In addition, we will show how to train deep learning models using Python and TensorFlow.
About the presenter: Lino Coria got a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the University of British Columbia. His interests include digital image processing and computer vision. He currently works as a computer vision engineer at Wiivv.
* Type Annotation
An introduction into Python's new type annotations feature. Covering the tools for working with them, some examples of what they're good for and not good for.
About the presenter: Nat Knight is a Software Developer at the BC Centre for Excellence in HIV/AIDS, where he works on open source bioinformatics tools and viral sequence databases.
