Have you always wanted to learn to knit? Here's your chance to learn, vegan-style! We'll learn how to cast on and do a basic knit stitch to make your very own garter stitch scarf.
What to bring:
Vegan-friendly yarn of your choice. A few brands that are inexpensive and fairly easy to work with when learning to knit: Red Heart, Bernat, Caron Simply Soft. You'll want to check the label before you buy to make sure you haven't chosen a yarn that has animal fiber in it. **Note: It may be best to avoid a yarn that is 100% cotton for now since it can be tricky to work with when you're first learning. Knitting needles of your choice. Needles come in many different sizes, and the size you use depends upon the yarn. The yarns recommended above would work well with size 8 (5mm) knitting needles. Lots of patience! Learning to knit can be a challenge, but you'll reap the rewards when you're all bundled up and cozy in your handmade scarf. Knitting supplies can be found at any craft store. If you're not sure what to buy or have any questions, feel free to ask!
