New RSVP Policy

Hi everyone,

I really want Montclair Vegans to be a casual fun group, but unfortunately because of the number of people who don't show up to events, I'm going to have to change the RSVP policy.

Any event that requires money will have to be paid for in advance. This will include cooking classes, restaurant outings, etc. If for some reason you have to drop out of the event, refunds will be issued up to 7 days before the event, minus a five dollar processing fee. Any person who drops out of the event 7 days or less beforehand will not receive a refund. Cooking classes require a lot of work in advance, including buying and preparing food. If people don't show up or cancel at the last minute, I'm left with extra food. Restaurant outings, such as this weekend's Veggie Heaven dinner require food to be ordered in advance since we are such a large group. Dropping out after the RSVP date has past causes the cost for each person to rise and isn't fair to the rest of the group, nor is fair to the restaurants who are getting ready to host us.

I also ask that you please only RSVP yes to free events such as potlucks if you are seriously planning on attending. 47 people had RSVPed yes to the last potluck and only about 30 showed up. Not knowing how many people are coming to an event makes it difficult to plan for. Our hostesses plan in advance and prepare their homes for us, and not showing up without an explanation is disrespectful.

Having said all of that, I'm really looking forward to seeing everyone at future events.
