Please share with us what motivated you to transition to a healthier, plant-based diet and lifestyle .

Mostly ethical concerns. I am different from many in the group in that I read a lot about the science behind things that many veg*ns are interested in like supplements, alternative health, etc. and find it lacking. Vegan Outreach is my favorite veg*n charity in that it places a high emphasis on accurate information and citing all sources. I find much information floating around in the veg*n culture to be inaccurate or misleading. It allows critics to dismiss us as ill-informed, gullible, or worse, liars. I have even read some scientific concerns about the data analysis used by veg*n hero, Dr. Campbell. But regardless, I am driven primarily by ethical (and environmental) concerns and the philosphy and scientific evidence for animal sentience are clear on this. We share the same concerns even if we differ on the details.

Do you have any favorite foods or dishes?

Maybe asparagus.

Are you vegan? Vegetarian? Veg-curious?

Reduced dairy. No whole eggs. With eggs I go by the if you can see it, smell it or taste it rule. I'd like to say the eggs is will power, but actually whole eggs make me nauseated anyhow. It's for the best. I have done a lot of vegan baking with mixed results.

If you are not vegan just yet, how is your transition going and how can we help?

Introduction

Hi, vegetarian for ~15 years. I have a practical view towards it, like Vegan Outreach. I'm interested in atheism and skepticism, so I often question our own propaganda. I am also very skeptical of most things using the words, "energy"or "quantum.

What Ginger is saying about this Meetup Group

I look forward to the vegetarian meetups.
