Call to Action - We Need Your Support

Dear NOLA Green Roots Volunteer,
You are one of 1000's of volunteers having an enormous impact on the success and growth of NOLA Green Roots. With your help, we have built four community gardens in the past four years, ranging from small plots to the 3/4-acre experimental gardens. Your help brings locally grown, pesticide-free produce to underserved New Orleans residents who, before NOLA Green Roots, had little or no access to healthy, fresh food. Your efforts are instrumental in our mission of populating New Orleans with sustainable gardens that teach our poorest neighbors to grow their own food, feed their families, and become self- sustaining.
I cannot thank you enough for your contribution of time and dedication -- sweat equity for sure! -- to the neighborhoods of New Orleans that were struggling long before Katrina, were ravaged in the storm's aftermath, and are still in shambles and neglected.
Yet, here I am, asking you for more support.
As you may know, our non-profit business model calls for garden members to pay $35 per month, for which they receive generous quantities of the food that the gardens produce. We offer delivery service because so many of New Orleans' poor have inadequate transportation possibilities. We do require that members at the $35 level spend time each month volunteering (in the gardens or otherwise) for NOLA Green Roots.
Our focus in poverty pockets means that many families are unable to pay the $35 fee on a regular basis. This is the case particularly for single parent/unemployed parent households and families where a caregiver may be responsible for a handful of children. It can also be difficult for seniors to pay $35 per month.
So this is what I am asking. Please consider a gift to ensure the continued power of your volunteer efforts to get the food that you have planted, cultivated, weeded and/or harvested into the hands of the families that are counting on this food. Your gift of $420 means a full year of monthly fresh food from our gardens for a needy New Orleans family. A gift of $105 covers three months, and, as I hope you know, your gift cannot be too large or too small. We will be grateful!
To make a gift online, please use the secure link: If you prefer to mail your gift, please send it to NOLA Green Roots, 3101 Tulane Avenue, New Orleans, LA 70119, or (504)[masked] if you have any questions. All gifts are tax deductible and you will receive a receipt for income tax purposes.
With gratitude,
Joseph Brock
Executive Director
