This event became so large that we're breaking it up over two time slots. You can RSVP for either one or both if you want to bring 10 servings! The first is at 1:30 the second is at 3:00. You are RSVPing for the 1:30 slot on this page.

Cooking for one can be challenging so let's cook and swap! You'll prepare one dish (a large enough portion to feed 5 people), come to the event, swap, and leave with 5 different meals to get you through the work week.

Before coming to this meetup event you will prepare a dish that you would have for dinner. It should be a potluck-style dish, such as a vegetarian chili or tofu scramble.

Make 5 dinner-size portions of the dish and divide it in to five disposable containers or ziplock bags.

Label each package vegan or lacto-ovo vegetarian. If possible please prepare the dish vegan-style. Include a copy of the recipe or at least an ingredient list in case people have allergies.

When you arrive at the event you will place your containers on a table near the other vegan or vegetarian dishes.

We will take turns selecting dishes until each person has 5. Depending on the turnout we will most likely draw numbers to determine the order.

If you have a small cooler or insulated bag you might want to bring it.

You will leave with a different dish for every night of the week!

The meeting room is only reserved for our group from 3:00-4:00. Please try to be on time! Parking was ridiculous last time we tried this so you may want to metro to Gallery Place.

Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Library
Room: MLK Room A-5, take the elevator down to the A level by the security guard and head in to the large empty room then go all the way back to the left.

Just to clarify:
All dishes are to be vegetarian - no mammalian flesh or by-products such as gelatin, chicken broth, fish sauce etc.

Lacto-ovo vegetarian diet includes eggs and dairy products.

Vegan dishes exclude all animal products, including eggs, dairy, and honey.

Even though the event is called 'cooking for one' couples are welcome to attend too - each attendee will bring 5 dishes and leave with 5.

The event involves some homework and prep so please be sure you can participate to make the exchange fair. As long as it keeps working this will be a monthly recurring event.
