Steven Gellman in Concert

  • Jammin Java

227 Maple Ave E, Vienna, VA (map)

  • Let's go see my friend and fellow vegan Steven Gellman perform. He's a local folk singer, and will be in concert with Margaret Wolfe on vocals/percussion/harmonica, Doug Poplin on cello/vocals, and Dan Binstock on piano. Jammin Java is a nightclub in northern VA that brings friends and family together around amazing live music - and of course the perfect food and drink to enhance your experience. VIP seating with a dedicated server is available.

Steven uses his music to bring people together. His songs reflect the joys and sorrows of a life well lived and speak to our common humanity. When Steven started performing solo in the 90s, he was one of the few openly gay musicians performing along the East Coast. It caught Billboard Magazine's eye when they reviewed Steven's song Believe. He was a pioneer then and he continues to make music on his terms.

With a voice reminiscent of John Denver and songs hailed by Billboard Magazine as "intensely sensitive and impressively intelligent at the same time," Steven Gellman has performed to audiences across the United States since the mid-90s. Now, for the release of his 8th album, Gellman returns to Jammin Java for a concert full of holiday cheer. Hearth & Home is a collection of original songs and holiday favorites that span the season - from Thanksgiving Day to New Year's Eve. Celebrate the holidays with an acoustic concert for the entire family!

Gellman emerged on the folk music scene in 1997 garnering critical acclaim for Photobook with a sound that Billboard Magazine compared to the Indigo Girls. Since then, he has continued his hallmark approach of capturing story in song through a growing catalog of indie releases. Gellman is a frequent nominee for Best Contemporary Folk Vocalist in the Washington Area Music Awards. He has performed at premier music venues including the Birchmere in Alexandria, VA, the Blue Bird Café in Nashville, TN, and The Ark in Ann Arbor, MI to name a few. He has also been honored to open shows for Dar Williams, Cheryl Wheeler and Richie Havens among others.

You will need to purchase your ticket in order to attend this event. The following is the link:

If folks are interested, I'll be happy to have a get together at 5:30 PM across the street at Amma, a vegetarian Indian restaurant.
