We had such a good time at our Spring Clean Up Day this past April at For the Animals Sanctuary that I couldn't pass up the opportunity to spend this Thanksgiving holiday there, too.
I can no longer sit around a corpse plopped in the middle of a table and be thankful. This ThanksLiving potluck is a fundraiser (cheap) for the sanctuary to get through the winter months. What a super easy holiday this will be! No pushing a vacuum or making a gazillion dishes. Just make one dish to share.
For the Animals says:
"Come to the sanctuary for our ThanksLiving Potluck Fundraiser. Winter is on its way and we need to raise some much needed funds for increased food and bedding to get the animals through until spring.
We will be holding sanctuary tours throughout the day, so you will get lots of chances to meet and hang out with the animals. The meal will begin at 1pm and we'll continue the sanctuary tours afterwards. Along with feeding the animals some Thanksliving treats :)
Please bring a vegan dish to share. If you
need some ideas, visit Veg Web or The PPK for some great vegan recipes.
There is a donation fee of $18 per person for this event.
The animals and humans of ftA will be very grateful for the bedding and food bought with the money raised from this event. Please share with your friends!
*Please note all potluck dishes must be Vegan (i.e. no dairy, eggs, meat of any kind, or honey)."

Our plan: We'll be driving to the Sanctuary. I can accommodate four people (someone's gotta sit in the middle) and if anyone else would volunteer to drive then that many more people can attend and donate to the Sanctuary. We will be leaving promptly at 10:30am from Long Island City Queens one stop from Manhattan on the 7 train. This should ensure a noon time arrival. We'll have a tentative leave time back to NYC at 4:30pm, a little later if everyone is having a good time. The event is officially over at 6pm.
