CANCELLED (poor weather): Wednesday workout (7/9): Bumps of Belle Haven

CANCELLED: The heavens did not break in our favor tonight. The ride is cancelled due to the approaching thunderstorm. Ride safe. I look forward to seeing everyone next week.

About the ride:
Want to improve your weekend warrior-ness? Then squeeze in a challenging weekday workout riding the "Bumps of Belle Haven." It's an 18.5 mile circuit with nearly 1,500ft of suburban climbing.  Pace yourself and grind it out. There aren't any speedy descents to assist you.

Ride-briefing: 6:30pm, sharp. If you aren't at the briefing, you aren't on the ride.
Rolling: 6:45pm
Route:  (cue sheets will be provided)
Pace: The ride leader cruises at 18+mph on flats; slower uphill; faster downhill... Your pace should be similar (or stronger). The ride will regroup at the top of each hill.

Required accoutrements:
1) Helmet
2) Cue sheet holder or GPS device with the course pre-loaded
3) White front light and red rear light, to see and be seen at dusk
4) ID
5) Spare inner tube

Why is the ride capped at 10 people?
Safety.  We'll be riding through neighborhood streets with lots of turns and there's only one ride leader. If there's sufficient interest (and co-leaders), I may expand the ride in the future to accommodate more riders and varied paces.

- All rides are 'No Drop', for nobody will be left behind.
- The event will be canceled if it rains.
- Email me if you have any questions

AAAARGH. Tonight's ride is cancelled. I'm not a professional meteorologist, but it's hard to miss the wall of thunder and rain on the radar. Hopefully a few of you will be able to get out and ride earlier tonight and we'll have better weather next week!

Oh no. This time of year is tough for evening rides. Fingers crossed for next week.

Hello all. Quick question. If anyone is driving to Jones Point Park tomorrow for the ride, would I be able to store my backpack in your car?

    • Joanne N.

Yes. My car will be there and I'd be happy to stow your backpack.

Thanks Joanne. It at least saves me from having to go back to work. I appreciate it.

It's another weather-watch Wednesday. I will post a final "go/no go" decision here by 5pm. Let's hope the clouds break in our favor!

Have to back out. Losing power last night means there is a lot of stuff I now need to do tonight.

Sorry, I won't be able to join you on this one.
