Tour de Carroll

Tour de Carroll: the first big Metric Century of the year. This is good to get your climbing legs in shape as it is 63 miles of relentless roller-coasters. It's a Sportive event, so you have to sign-up with Active.com.

Ride details at their website at: http://tourdecarroll.com/App_Content/home.aspx. They will charge you $40 for the privilege of riding this event. But they do usually provide the coolest and most colorful tee-shirt of the year. And Ice Cream.

This is not a VeloDCity organized ride, so there are no limits on participation, and no particular commitment to sticking together as one group.

We can meet before the start before 8am, at the big iron gate, and at the finish by the ice cream truck, sometime in the noon till 1pm bracket.

My GPS showed 4000 feet of climbing. Some substantial differences over previous years, and the Northern part of the route was very different, and included a deeper incursion into Pennsylvania. High pont at 940 ASL and low point at 440 ASL. The middle part from 25 miles to 52 miles were minorly undulating around 530ASL. The last 12 miles was a rolling climb from 477ASL to 760 ASL. It's a seriously hilly ride.

Those hills were not as tough from previous years, but a great training ride for me. 4 hrs of continous spinning I love it!... I think Im getting it...
Im ready for you NY ;-)

Just a shade over 4 hours, and a shade under 16 mph. Legs sore: I have to walk downstairs backwards right now. Bum pain-free: can't recommend the new Selle SMP saddle too highly. Great roads as seen in George's pix. Great ice cream, as internalized by me right after the finish.

I was at 17.1 good for me. It was a little too cold for my liking.
