*****RIDE UPDATE***** 2nd group added**** Please read below
Thanks to Gregg being willing to lead a 2nd group we will be expanding the ride size. We will establish two groups, I will lead the 1st group (think B/B+ pace not a hammerfest pace) and Gregg (think B and slower pace) will lead the 2nd group. Please update your RSVP/comments with what group you think you will ride with. We want to try and start out with two equally sized groups. The 2nd group will start a few minutes behind the 1st group. This way if folks drop off the 1st group during the ride they can slow down/wait for the 2nd group to come up the road. There will be a few short stops to regroup (not a regular rest stop) after a few series of hills (to try and maintain the 2 seperate groups as best as possible). As a reminder this ride has a lot of climbing, you'll be continuously going up and down more punchy shorter climbs so be adequately prepared.
Again helmets off to Gregg for being willing to help as a 2nd ride leader.
Feel free to meet back up at the Cosi post ride for lunch/refreshments.
This year I plan to hold most likely once or twice a month a ride focused on the dreaded hill climbing. To get the base miles going, the 1st event will be thru the hills of Arlington. For those of you that have ridden the Conte's & or Revolutions mid week rides before this is a combination of the two. Lots of ups and downs but no long climbs. This is meant to be a training ride so not as recreational as some other of our Meetup rides. But also not meant to be a hammer fest like the Conte's ride can be. Goal is to have a nice strong effort to get some base miles in the the legs before the season begins
Total distance:approx 30 miles
Total elevation climbed: approx 2,800 feet
Pace: Medium: 14-17 mph avg (slower going up, faster going down); On the category systems call it a B/B+ ride
Terrain: Gregg would call it hilly, I would call it lots of rollers with a few punchy but short roller
Start/Finish: Ballston Metro/Orange Line
Highlights: Rosslyn Climb, Military Road, tired legs
The route/cue sheet can be viewed at the link below:
HELMETS ARE REQUIRED FOR PARTICIPATION:

- This is a no stop ride so bring enough drink/food to get you through 30 miles - We can grab a bite after the ride at the Cosi next to the Metro
- The event will be cancelled/postponed in event of rain/snow or if it is below 30 degrees (there's only so much cold I can take)
