🎁✨ What to Bring for This Festive Sint Nicolaas Hike! ✨🎁
This isn’t just any hike — it’s the Sint Nicolaas Hike, a small tradition for anyone who enjoys a spark of playful magic. Everyone brings a little sweet treat: chocolate, candy, marzipan, pepernoten, anything you’d happily find in Sint’s bag. All treats go into the big sack, and during the hike we’ll pull out surprises at random — because why should kids have all the fun? For once, skip the healthy snacks… this day is all about simple joy. 🍫🍬🎉🥾

The 22 km route has plenty to enjoy. It begins on part of the Cotlandenpad klompenpad, with open meadows and old farm paths that guide you gently toward Castle Amerongen. After that, the trail heads into the forest, where quiet paths and the presence of wolves give the walk a genuine touch of wild atmosphere (no worries — wolves avoid people, but still… stay together! 😉). The whole route is wonderfully varied — countryside, history, and woodland all woven into one long, festive walk.

Some sections can be a bit wet, so bring good hiking shoes.

⏰ We start walking a few minutes after 11:00 — we don’t wait for latecomers, as the forest calls and daylight is short this time of year.

🚗 Coming by car?
There is usually plenty of parking. But note: It’s always the drivers who are late 😉 So please arrive a bit early to avoid running after us.

After 10 km: Lunch break and happy hour with Sint Nicolaas goodies (30 min)

If there’s a waiting list, this will happen sooner (in less than 48 hours). If that happens, no worries — you’re always welcome to sign up again if there’s space.

• Refund policy: Cancellations are fully refundable up to 1 week before the event (This is Friday 28 Novembre at 23h59). After this period, the fee becomes non-refundable.
• Hike difficulty: Our hikes are moderately challenging. Please only join if you’re confident you can keep up with the group’s pace (5 km/ h)— it’s more fun for everyone when we can walk together without long waits.
• If the pace is too challenging: We may kindly suggest you continue at your own pace. We’ll give you clear directions to the nearest bus or train so you can return comfortably.
• At your own risk: You participate at your own risk, so please make sure you have appropriate insurance coverage for outdoor activities.
• Payment note: With Tikkie we only see initials (e.g., J. Doe instead of John Doe). Please include your Meetup name in the payment note so we can match it easily.
• Friends joining: If you bring a friend, make sure they also register and pay.
• What to bring: Snacks, lunch, and 1 liters of water/ or hot thee/ coffee (depending on the hike distance).
