• Prepare books for low-income children

    Book'em

Celebrate the holiday season by giving back! Join other volunteers while preparing books at Book’em, & go to lunch afterwards if you’d like! To prepare the new & nearly new/donated books, volunteers are asked to clean off the books by taking “Sale” stickers off brand new & wiping down nearly new books to get the dust off. You’d make it possible for a child to be proud of his/her new book! These books are distributed to economically disadvantaged children ages 0-18 throughout Davidson County. Last year, over 58,000 were distributed through this program. Hopefully Book’em will distribute more with your help! Whether you volunteer one time or every time, you are always welcome at Book'em! Book'em is located in the NPT building at 161 Rains Ave., Nashville, 37203. Our phone is[masked]. If you have questions, please call or email [masked].

  • Interested in science, space exploration, or the August 21, 2017 eclipse?

Participate in the Middle Tennessee Space Society monthly meetings (posted here) &/or educate children & adults throughout our community! All are welcome. Only an interest in science, engineering, space exploration, or the eclipse is necessary. No formal or informal background is needed to participate in meetings. If you are knowledgeable enough about space to teach others, great! Examples include visiting elementary school classrooms, helping families look through telescopes for the first time, & educating the general public at a movie theater the weekend of a space movie’s premiere. If you do not feel knowledgeable enough to teach yet enjoy learning about it & want to support the effort, there are many other ways to be involved! Examples are coordinating events, helping with crowd control while others educate, & helping with chapter communications. We hope to get to know you as well as feed your curiosity & passion!
